
PANEPhysics Academy of North East was established on April 6, 1998, at IIT (Indian Institute of Techonology) Guwahati, and inaugurated by the eminent Physicist and Educationist late Prof. G.C. Deka, in a meeting chaired by Dr. D.N. Buragohain, the founder Director of the Institute. The Academy was the brainchild of a gathering of eminent physicists of North East India, on November 11, 1997, at IIT Guwahati, celebrating hundred years of discovery of electron. The galaxy of this gathering included Prof. K.M. Pathak (founder Vice-Chancellor of Tezpur University), Y.U.G. Murti (Founder Head, Department of Physics, IIT Guwahati) among others. ObjectivesThe main objectives of establishing the Academy have been to promote physics research and education, exchange of Physics Information, and providing a platform for placement of young Physics graduates in the North East India. ActivitiesKeeping in view the objectives of the Academy, it has been following an action plan, which includes:
FundingThe financial support is mainly thorough membership fees ( individual and institutional). Academic events are supported financially by various Government funding agencies. The young scientist award is supported by the Amiyabala Bhattacharjee Trust since 2004. The key note address of the PANE conference has been supported by the Bipin Pal Das Trust since 2007. |
