• Dr. P.J. Handique, Co-coordinator of the BIF-GU has been nominated as Expert Member, Advisory Committee for Tissue Culture Lab under National Bamboo Mission, Forest Department, Assam (2008-09).

Scholarship Award

• Mr. Chittaranjan Baruah, a Research Scholar of the BIF – Gauhati University has been nominated as a member to the prestigious International Union for Conservation of Nature / Species Survival Commission (IUCN/SSC) Tortoise and Freshwater Turtle Specialist Group for the 2009-2012 IUCN Quadrennium, in recognition of his contribution to Turtle Conservation and Biology.
• Mr. Chittaranjan Baruah, a Research Scholar of the BIF – Gauhati University has been invited for the Asian Scholarship Program for in-situ Chelonian Conservation (ASPin-situCC)-2010 to be taking place at the Wetlands Institute,Stone Harbor, New Jersey, USA. (During April-August, 2010).
