PROGRAMMES
At present the Department is conducting only one programme --- M.A. Mass Communication.
This is a full-time four-semester two-year programme with a total of 16 papers with several options for specialization in the Third Semester including Rural Communication, Film Studies, Women and Media among others.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- Acquaint the students with theoritical and practical knowledge of Communication and specially Mass Communication for making them capable of accepting the challenges of a demanding job scenario and become self-dependent whenever needed,
- Provide practical hands-on training to the students in every field of Mss Communication and New and Emerging avenues of Media and Communication,
- Facilitate the students to specialized study in different fields of Mass Communication Provide an overall training to the students for converting them to superior Human resources in the field of mass communication and thereby contribute towards nation-building in the long run,
Admission is done through entrance test followed by a personality test for those who qualify in the written test,
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for applying for this course, a candidate must have obtained 50 % marks in the bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

This 50 % of marks may be either in Major subject or in Pass Course or the aggregate of both Major and Pass course whichever is more.
- There is usual concession in marks for those belonging to reserved category of classes – SC/ST/OBC/MOBCs according to GU rules.
- While the admission process begins in the month of July, session starts in August.
Short-Term Programmes
A two-day colloquium on international humanitarian laws and conflict resolution was organized in 2004 which was a major success and based on this another such programme is to be organized by August last week or early September this year again. |
