1) 1 year P.G. Diploma Course in Banking and Insurance. Academic session: 2010-2011.

No of Seats : 30
Minimum Qualification: Graduation with 50 %.

2)Masters in Commerce (M. Com.) Programme (2 Years)

Structure - Semester System.

Admission Criteria & Procedure

The office of the Secretary receives applications for admission for M. Com. course, University classes, as per public notifications issued from time to time. Application shall be processed by the Commerce Department at Advisory Committee and finalized by the Admission Committee under the relevant provision of the ordinance on admission and the Gauhati University Act. List of selected candidates is displayed in the Department and in the office of the Secretary, University Classes.

Eligibility
  • B. Com. in the 10+2+3 pattern with Major; or
  • B. Com. in the 10+2+3 pattern with at least 40% marks in aggregate in general course.

Admission to M. Com. First Semester class shall be made strictly on merit.

Reservation of seats (for students residing in Assam)
  • Schedule Caste: 7%
  • Schedule Tribes (Plains): 10%
  • Schedule Tribes (Hills): 5%
  • OBC & MOBC: 15%
Other Reservation
  • Handicapped Students: 3%
  • Children of University Employees: 5%
  • Fringe Village: 2 seats
For other Universities

A maximum of 20% seats may be allowed to the candidates of other Universities on the basis of admission test.

Relaxation of Marks

The candidates for reserved quota (SC/ST/OBC/MOBC) shall be given relaxation of up to 5% of the marks prescribed for admission.

Reservation under Extra Curricular activities

A few seats may be offered for admission to those candidates who have shown extra ordinary proficiency in extra-Curricular and Co- Curricular activities in the last three years preceding graduation.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) Programme (3 to 5 Years)

Admission Criteria & Procedure

Master's Degree in Commerce or relevant professional degree with at least 55% of marks from a University/Institute recognized by Gauhati University. Professional Degree holders must have B. Com. as their first degree.
