Academic Development

Ecology Laboratory
  • The department got FIST (Fund for infrastructure in Science and Technology) sponsorship by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India in 2007.
  • The faculty of the department have achieved significant outcome in their respective fields of research in last 5 years. They are also engaged in extension activities for developing entrepreneurship in some of the potential areas of plant science in the region. The faculties of the department are involved in studies of Wetland ecology, characterization and germplasm collection of bamboo and canes of Northeast, documentation of traditional ecological knowledge, characterization of threatened and endangered plants of the region and to highlight their status, indigenous knowledge systems (IKS) of different ethnic groups of North East India and form a database for the same. Further, a core group is involved for characterization and bioprospecting of important microbes of this region.
