Mission

To develop motivated professionals for facing global challenges in the field of Biotechnology and to create awareness among the society to harness the benefits of modern Biotechnological innovations.

objective

  • To conduct academic programmes for Post Graduate courses (M.Sc. and Ph.D) in Biotechnology through up-to-date curricula for developing trained manpower in the areas of Miocropropagation Technology, Food Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Natural Product Chemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering, Neutraceuticals and Functional foods.
  • To carry out need-based research in different areas of Biotechnology, giving priority to areas like in-vitro multiplication and conservation of rare and endangered plants of the NE region, Bio- prospecting and bioassay of medicinal plants, Food Biotechnology specially fermented foods of the sub-Himalayan region, biopesticides, biofertilizers, petroleum biotechnology, cancer chemoprevention and probiotics.
  • Develop a regional database for medicinal plants and microbes, & conduct Biotechnology based extension and vocational programmes for common and needy section of the society.
