Joint Registrar
As of 4th Feb 1999, Dr Ramani Barman assumed his Office of the Joint Registrar, Gauhati University, Guwahati-14. Dr Barman received M.A. degree in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-110 067 and awarded PhD degree from Dibrugarh University. He has more than 25 years of work experience in academic and administrative facilitation role as follows:
- Lecturer, Goreswar College, Kamrup, Assam
- Project Member, IIE, Guwahati
- Credit officer, Department of Rural Development, Govt. of Assam
- Subject Teacher in Rajdhar Bora H. S. School, Azara
Besides his normal duties as the Joint Registrar (Admn), Gauhati University, he is also involved himself in several socio-economic activities. Dr Barman is the founding Chairman of "Project Chamata Educational Society", He had also been invited by the University of Calcutta to address the prestigious workshop on Sino-Indian Economic Cooperation held in University of Calcutta. Presently he is also working as the Vice President of the Assam Association of the Deaf, working President of All India Chess Championship for the Deaf, working President of East Zone Cricket Tournament for the Deaf, Organizing Secretary (NE Zone), All India University Officers’ Association, Life Member of Assam Science Society, Assam Sishu Kalyan Sadan (an orphanage), Assam Association of the Deaf, Gao Kalyan Udyogik Prakalpa (an Weaving Project for the Destitute Girls) etc. He is also a regular writer on higher education and public policy in a widely published daily news paper in Assam, i.e. AGRADOOT.
