Admission Criteria
- A candidate seeking admission to the course must posses the Bachelor's degree in any discipline of the Gauhati Unibversity or from any other university recognized by the Gauhati University provided that such a candidate obtained a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate in Major subjects or 50% marks in aggregate in general course.
- In addition to the above minimum requirement. The students are required to appear in an Admission Test to be conducted by the department and must have obtained a minimum 50% marks in the test.
- On fulfillment of the above two conditions, they will be required to appear in a viva-voce Examination Test.
- The final selection will be made as follows:

Ph.D Degree
A candidate seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme must posses the M.L.I.Sc. Degree of the Gauhati University or from any other university recognized by the Gauhati University provided that such a candidate obtained a minimum of 55% marks.
Short-term Programmes
- Academic: Remedial Courses for SC, ST, OBC and Religious minority Groups
- Partner: Pre-Examination Training Center, GU.
